Voter Information

Voter Qualifications


To Vote in Washington County, you must be:



Voter Registration

You may register at Department of Elections on the County Office Building, Courthouse Square, Monday-Friday 9:00am to 4:30pm.

The new Motor-Voter Law enables persons to register when they obtain their driver's license.

Mail-in forms may be obtained at the Chamber of Commerce, municipal buildings, public library, or by calling Register Remote at 222-VOTE.

You must re-register if you change your party affiliation, name or address.



Absentee Voting


An absentee ballot may be used by any registered voter who is ill, incapacitated or who expects to be out of the county on election day. The application for an absentee ballot must be filed to the Department of Elections no sooner than 50 days prior to the election and no later than 5:00pm the Tuesday preceeding hte election. The application may be requested by mail or by phone. If an emergency arises after the deadline, an emergency application may be filed until 5:00pm the Friday before the election. Absentee ballots must be received by 5pm the Friday before the election by the Department of Elections.

Polling places are located at area churches and the Firehall on East McMurray Road.
